The Family History Library of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has genealogical records from all over the world. Go to Discover Your Family History to search for records. Most records are available online, while others are available only on films and fiche. The Darien Library is an affiliate of the Family History Library. At one time, you could order film and fiche from LDS for viewing at the Darien Library. LDS no longer circulates film and fiche, but certain film and fiche can be viewed online at Darien Library. The Darien Library has a subscription to American Ancestors magazine in the Genealogy section. It is published by the New England Historic Genealogical Society four times a year. The Society publishes a quarterly Newsletter and has from time to time issued its own Publications. Volunteers are available, by appointment, to help with research problems, or just to get you started. The Middlesex Genealogical Society holds five Saturday afternoon presentations a year in conjunction with the Darien Library. Speakers make presentations on various topics of interest to anyone interested in genealogy. Presentations are free and open to the public. The address of the Darien Library is 1441 Post Road. Darien, CT 06820 (Exit 11 from I-95). The Darien Library is 0.7 miles from the Darien Metro-North Railroad station stop. Program meetings are held on the mezzanine level. |
